Overview

What to expect at Beaches Negril

Beaches Negril is the smaller, more relaxed sibling of Turks & Caicos. It sits on the widest stretch of Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach, and where Turks & Caicos feels like a small town of villages, Negril feels like a single resort you can walk end-to-end in ten minutes.

That is its real advantage for families: everything is closer. Kids Camp, the waterpark, the beach, and most of the 13 restaurants are within a short stroller-push of each other. The property went through a full room refurb recently, so the accommodation is actually newer than at T&C in most categories.

It is also the one we quietly recommend to friends who are returning Beaches guests — the beach itself is more dramatic, the sunsets (facing west) are genuinely famous, and you can walk off-resort to grab a coffee in town in the morning if you want. You cannot do that in Providenciales.

Dining

All-inclusive dining for the whole family

The Mill at Beaches Negril

International buffet

The Mill

The main buffet, set inside an open-air sugar-mill-themed pavilion. Breakfast (7-10:30) is the meal you'll use every day whether you planned to or not — the omelette station pulls its weight, and the pastry case is worth a detour.

Stella at Beaches Negril

Italian

Stella

Al fresco Italian. Breakfast classics in the morning, a proper pasta menu at night. The terrace is genuinely romantic if you manage a parents-only dinner while the kids do Night Owls. Dinner reservations recommended.

Yaku at Beaches Negril

Peruvian

Yaku

One of the newest openings. Ceviche, lomo saltado, grilled meats, a strong bar programme, and a warmly lit dining room. Reservation required — pick an early slot so you can get the ceviche before it sells out.

Kimonos at Beaches Negril

Japanese teppanyaki

Kimonos

Teppanyaki chef performs at the grill in front of you. The kids love this one and it books out fast — reserve on your first afternoon, not your third.

Soy Sushi Bar at Beaches Negril

Sushi

Soy Sushi Bar

Sushi, sashimi, and a small Japanese appetizer menu. Good for a quieter, slightly more adult dinner. No reservation needed — just turn up around 6pm.

El Mariachi at Beaches Negril

Mexican

El Mariachi

Open-air Mexican right by the pool. Nothing is going to rewrite your worldview, but tacos, quesadillas, and cold drinks after an afternoon at the waterpark is a very solid combination.

Jerk Shack at Beaches Negril

Jamaican

Jerk Shack

Walk-up jerk chicken, festival, and rice and peas. The most Jamaican thing on property. Ask them to go easy on the peppa sauce if your kids haven't built up a tolerance yet.

Dino's Pizzeria at Beaches Negril

Neapolitan pizza

Dino's Pizzeria

Wood-fired pizza steps from the beach. Lunch only. The 4-year-old's first-choice meal roughly four days in a row.

Bar B Q Park at Beaches Negril

BBQ

Bar B Q Park

Grab-and-go BBQ — burgers, wraps, chicken. Right by the pool, so nobody minds if you eat in a wet swimsuit. Lunch only.

Green Machine at Beaches Negril

Salads

Green Machine

Beachside salad bar with 30+ toppings and build-your-own bowls. The one spot on property that doesn't feel like vacation eating, in a good way. Lunch only.

Chick'N Dippers at Beaches Negril

Chicken (food truck)

Chick'N Dippers

Beachside food truck pushing crispy island-style chicken with several dipping sauces. Oddly addictive. Our kids refer to this as "second lunch."

Café de Paris at Beaches Negril

French patisserie

Café de Paris

Crêpes, espresso, and a better-than-expected pastry case. Our go-to first stop of the day, and a weirdly useful 4pm snack stop when the kids hit a wall.

Yoyo's at Beaches Negril

Frozen yogurt & gelato

Yoyo's

Self-serve fro-yo, gelato, and sorbet. Every guest finds this within 24 hours of check-in. Open until 10pm.

Activities

What you'll do

Included

Scuba diving

Two-tank dives off the Negril reef — included for certified divers. The local reef is closer-in and shallower than T&C, which is actually better for family snorkelling.

Included

Waterskiing, kayaks, Hobie Cats

Free from the watersports hut. Waterskiing behind the Beaches boat is included — just show up.

Included

Pickleball & tennis

Courts at the back of the property, racquets and balls included, floodlit.

Included

Nightly live shows

Main theatre has a rotating nightly show — fire dancers on Wednesdays, a live reggae band on Friday nights. The reggae night is a good one for a late dinner before.

Included

Sesame Street character play

Elmo, Cookie Monster, and the crew do a twice-daily meet-and-greet, plus a full parade at the weekend. Non-negotiable if you have a 3-year-old.

Waterpark

Pirates Island Waterpark

Negril’s Pirates Island is smaller than the Turks & Caicos version, but the trade-off is location: it sits directly on the beach rather than set back behind the resort. Your kids can do a lazy river run, walk ten metres, and jump in the sea.

There are no height minimums on the toddler splash deck. The main tower has height restrictions — measure on arrival so there are no surprises.

  • Multiple tower waterslides
  • Lazy river loop
  • Swim-up soda bar
  • Kid-friendly main pool
  • Toddler splash deck
  • Directly on Seven Mile Beach

Kids Camp

Kids Camp with certified nannies

Smaller scale than Turks & Caicos but structurally identical — nursery-certified staff, IBCCES Autism Center certification, and age-banded programming from infants up through teens. The Kids Camp building is right next to the waterpark, which saves you one commute.

Night Owls (evening babysitting) is an optional paid add-on here too — it’s the thing that unlocks a proper adults-only dinner at Barefoot by the Sea.

Dunn's River Falls day trip

Full-day excursion to the famous waterfall near Ocho Rios. Bus transfer, lunch, lifeguard included. Long day — worth it once.

Before You Arrive

The things guests ask us

How far is Beaches Negril from the airport?

About 90 minutes from Montego Bay (MBJ), which is the only practical arrival airport. Transfers are included — there’s a dedicated Beaches lounge at MBJ and a bus leaves roughly every hour. Tip: sit on the left side of the bus on the drive in for the sea views.

Which room should we pick?

For a first visit with young kids, go Seaside Luxury Beachfront — the walkout onto the sand is worth the premium. If you want concierge-level booking help, go Firefly Butler. For two-kid families with tweens/teens, the Pool Paradise Family Suites are the most room per dollar.

Is it actually all-inclusive?

Yes — meals at the à la carte restaurants, drinks (including premium liquors and wines), most water sports, tips, taxes, and roundtrip airport transfers are all built into the rate. The handful of things that cost extra — spa treatments, off-property excursions, private dinners, scuba certification — are listed under Optional Extras below.

What ages is this resort best for?

Beaches resorts are designed for families with kids of any age. Kids Camp runs from infants up through teens, with age-specific programming. Couples and multi-generational groups are welcome too, and the adults-only pools and Red Lane Spa give grown-ups some breathing room.

How do we book?

We book Beaches through our travel agency partner at the same published rate as booking direct — you don’t pay us anything extra. Use the Check availability button at the top of this page or email us and we’ll get you a quote within one business day.

Do we need passports?

Yes, every member of your family needs a valid passport. We recommend renewing any passport that expires within six months of your travel date — a small number of airlines and immigration officers will turn you around if you’re too close to the expiration.

What about tipping?

Tips are included in your all-inclusive rate and the staff are not allowed to accept additional cash tips during your stay. The butler staff are the exception — if you book a Butler-level suite, a tip at the end of the week is customary.
